Introduction :
She is Bengali Indian born in London of Bengali Parents. Her father a librarian and mother is a teacher. She grew up in Rhodes Island, US. She has visited Calcutta many a times with her parents and that has left a lasting impression on her.

Milestone :
She is honored with the 2000 Pulitzer prize and The prestigious American Prize.
