trade unionism in 'Aaghat ' communal politics in 'Tamas'
and Terrorism in 'Drohkaal.'

Adoor Gopalkrishnan
Adoor
Gopalkrishnan has written and directed eight feature films and
over two dozen documentaries and short films. The National
award for Best Director has gone to Adoor four times. He won
the prestigious British film institute award for his film 'Eliooathayam'.
His book 'Cinemayude Lokam' also won the National Award for
Best Book on cinema in 1983.

Kamal Hassan
The
versatile actor is the recipient of the Best Actor for 1996
National Film Awards. This award was for his fascinating
performance in the Tamil film Indian (whose Hindi version was
Hindustani). In his 37-year career in films, he has bagged 15
Filmfare and 2 National awards. Producer of controversial film
Hey Ram. He has come a long way as an actor, producer and
