Kamala Das :
According to me
all these ladies in the mythological tales, like Sita, Shakuntala
and Sheelavati were virtuous, slightly masochistic and
uncomplaining. I heard these tales from my grandmother. No wonder
then that I made up my mind to differ from them in my dealing with
the opposite sex.
Love is an exhausting game. The stalker unwittingly kills the
prey. Each of us have killed the prey although the poor creature
still walks the street as a zombie. Survivors of great, turbulent
love affairs become rinds, ghosts of moons appearing like pale
discs in the sky, after the sun has risen over the treetops. |
